MADD Unveils Findings of 21-City 'Night of Compliance' Alcohol Retailer Stings
Teen access to alcohol through illegal purchases at alcohol retail establishments across the country is widespread, according to results released by Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Marking the 21st anniversary of the 21 minimum drinking age law, teenaged members of the MADD Youth in Action program went undercover in cooperation with law enforcement agencies in 21 cities this past weekend to conduct a national "Night of Compliance." The Youth in Action teams attempted to make illegal purchases of alcohol to determine the number of retail establishments illegally selling alcohol to those under 21. The 21 cities conducted a total of 867 checks across the country. Of those, 153 retailers sold alcohol to youth under 21 resulting in an 82 percent compliance rate. Boston conducted 124 compliance checks with 13 violations resulting in a 90 percent compliance rate, above the national average. Honolulu was the only 100 percent compliance site and Seattle held the lowest compliance rate of 57 percent.

The 500 millionth song, Faith Hill's "Mississippi Girl," was purchased by Amy Greer from Lafayette, Indiana, and as the grand prize winner she will receive 10 iPods to share with family and friends, an iTunes gift card for 10-thousand songs and an all- expenses paid trip for four to see Coldplay on their world tour.

CBS and the Recording Academy Sign a New Five-Year Extension
C-B-S and The Recording Academy have signed a new five-year extension that will keep the annual "Grammy Awards" on C-B-S through 2011, it was jointly announced by CBS and The Recording Academy. The new agreement further extends one of the longest broadcast partnerships in television history. C-B-S has been the broadcast home of the Grammy Awards since 1973. The current agreement was set to expire after the 2006 Grammy broadcast. In addition to the Grammy telecasts, the new agreement also includes various potential new live music and music-driven content properties over the course of the partnership, as well as a shared commitment to public service and educational content.
