Kumbia Kings' latest album "FUEGO" is filled with intense vallenato accordion, funky guitar, rhythmic dance beats and regional Mexican influences, and features songs "Bla, Bla, Bla," "Viento," "Ay Amor," "Perdoname," and "Na, Na, Na (Dulce Nina)." The album also features interesting covers "Y Ella Sabe," a remake of Steely Dan's 1972 hit "Do It Again," and the 1983 hit "Pass the Dutchie" by Musical Youth.
Kumbia Kings have sold millions of albums since the group's formation in 1999, and have won awards and nominations from the American Music Awards, Latin Grammys, Tejano Music Awards, and Billboard Latin Awards, among others.
Opening for Kumbia Kings are VOLUMEN X, a regional Mexican group that mixes elements of Colombian cumbia, vallenato, norteno and techno-electronic effects. VOLUMEN X made their recording debut in 2004 with "Sigo Pensando en Ti" which was produced and directed by A. B. Quintanilla III. Also opening the show is PJE, an up-and-coming group from south Texas whose sound includes hip-hop, cumbia, reggae, pop and R&B.
The park will be open on July 30 from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., and gates to the SBC Southern Star Amphitheatre will open at 6:00 p.m. The concert is free with a Six Flags AstroWorld daily ticket or season pass.
