Release of 'The Da Vinci Code' Trailer Sparks Interest in New Cryptex Gift Item

Release of 'The Da Vinci Code' Trailer Sparks Interest in New Cryptex Gift Item

MEQUON, Wis., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The release of a movie trailer by Sony Pictures for "The Da Vinci Code" has generated increased demand for the recently introduced Encrypta cryptex.

Carlos de la Huerga, one of the creators of the Encrypta cryptex, said, "We believe the extraordinary interest in our cryptex is due to the popularity of 'The Da Vinci Code,' the best-selling novel by Dan Brown in which a cryptex plays a major role. Now, with Sony's recent announcement that a movie based on the book will be launched on May 19, 2006, and with the release of the movie's trailer, we're seeing sales of our cryptex growing rapidly."

De la Huerga originally designed the cryptex for his daughter's 9th birthday. But then, through word of mouth, there were so many requests to build more that he decided to start a company - Encrypta Gifts - to make it commercially available.

The Encrypta cryptex was launched in early April of 2005. Since then the company has received national media attention with articles appearing in New York's Newsday, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and other newspapers throughout the U.S.

How it works:

Inside the Encrypta cryptex is a hidden chamber-key with a cavity that can hold a variety of items, such as jewelry, a coupon or a note. The recipient of the cryptex can only access the chamber-key if they align seven rotating tumblers in a sequence matching a secret code selected by the gift giver and custom-keyed into the cryptex by Encrypta Gifts. Once the tumblers are aligned correctly, the cap can be pulled out exposing the hidden chamber-key inside.

De la Huerga commented, "We've been impressed by the large number of customers who've selected secret codes like 'MARRYME,' 'LOVEYOU,' 'FOREVER' or an anniversary date. Obviously people see our cryptex as a unique gift for romantic occasions."

The Encrypta cryptex is handcrafted using select hardwoods and solid brass and stands about 7-1/2 inches tall. Its current price is $79.95.

The Encrypta cryptex is available for purchase on the company's website at http://www.encryptagifts.com/.
