Fandango and IMAX Launch New Online Portal
Fandango Creates Comprehensive Internet Resource for IMAX Movie Information, Showtimes and Tickets
Advance Tickets Now Available for Batman Begins, Fandango's Most Requested IMAX Title
NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Fandango (www.fandango.com), the nation's largest online and phone movie ticketing service, today announced the launch of a new co-branded IMAX-Fandango portal (www.fandango.com/imax), featuring movie information, showtimes and advance ticket sales for IMAX(R) theatres.
The IMAX portal on Fandango's web site will be a one-stop destination for IMAX fans to discover movies playing at IMAX theatres in North America and will provide consumers with a seamless way to purchase tickets to select IMAX theatres. The portal is the latest advancement in the strategic Fandango-IMAX marketing partnership, first announced on December 9, 2004.
The IMAX-Fandango portal launch comes just a week before the eagerly awaited release of Batman Begins, with the IMAX DMR(R) (Digital Re-mastering) and conventional 35mm versions opening simultaneously on June 15.
According to a recent Fandango moviegoer poll, Batman Begins is this year's most requested IMAX title, and ranks as one of the summer's most anticipated films, along with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory -- also opening day-and-date in IMAX's format (July 15). With the new IMAX-Fandango portal, moviegoers can buy their tickets in advance and ensure they get to experience these highly anticipated films in IMAX's larger-than-life format.
"Fandango is always looking for new ways to offer additional customer conveniences," says Art Levitt, CEO of Fandango. "IMAX's immersive format is a spectacular way to see a movie, and Fandango is proud to help moviegoers guarantee seats to the ultimate moviegoing experience."
"The new IMAX-Fandango portal is a great resource for movie fans," said IMAX Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L. Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler, "and we're excited to be working with Fandango to make The IMAX Experience(R) more accessible to moviegoers across North America."
