Verve Forecast Artist Jackie Greene Hits the Road With SWEET SOMEWHERE BOUND
Singer/Songwriter/Multi-Instrumentalist Marks First Major Label Release With Dates on Both Coasts
NEW YORK, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, May 24, 2005, Verve Forecast will re-release Jackie Greene's SWEET SOMEWHERE BOUND, which was originally released in July 2004 by the Sacramento-based independent label DIG Music. In the spirit of the early works of Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, Greene is a modern- day troubadour. He is more than just a songwriter; he's a genuine storyteller.
While the 13 gems on SWEET SOMEWHERE BOUND range from tender ballads ("Sad to Say Goodbye," "Miss Madeline (3 Ways to Love Her)") to swinging roots jams ("About Cell Block #9," "Seven Jealous Sisters"), all feature a wisdom and insight that belie Greene's young age. At 24, the Sacramento-based prodigy has already released three albums and a DVD.
Jackie Greene's songs reflect desire ("Write a Letter Home") and loss ("Emily's in Heaven"), but can also display his sharp sense of humor. "Now I don't really care about your hot-blooded sister/I'm sure there's a man for to love her and miss her/I didn't mean nothing, I just happened to kiss her," he sings on "Honey I Been Thinking About You."
Throughout SWEET SOMEWHERE BOUND, Greene showcases his amazing prowess on guitar, harmonica, and keyboards (both piano and Hammond B-3 organ). In fact, Greene plays the lion's share of the instruments on SWEET SOMEWHERE BOUND.
In addition to these gifts, Greene also possesses an engaging voice. His tone lies somewhere near the crux of folk and the blues, and he can manipulate it from tender to gruff to full-on power.
Work has already begun on his first CD of all new material for Verve Forecast, which is slated for release in early 2006. Produced by Steve Berlin (Los Lonely Boys), guest musicians on the sessions include Pete Thomas, Davey Farragher, Val McCallum and David Hidalgo.
In support of SWEET SOMEWHERE BOUND, Greene will continue his active tour schedule with dates on both coasts. He will be seen opening for Jewel in Colorado and California throughout June and a date with both Chris Isaak and Big Head Toad and the Monsters. Touring will continue through the end of the year as he visits new regions including the Northeast and Midwest.
