Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., Chairman of The New York Times Company, Will Be Keynote Speaker
BETHESDA, Md., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading digital journalists from around the world will gather for the sixth annual conference of the Online News Association (ONA), to be held this year on October 28th - 29th in New York City.
The capstone of the conference will take place on the evening of October 29, 2005 when The Online Journalism Awards are announced. The awards competition honor excellence in Web journalism and are administered by the Online News Association and the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California.
Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., chairman of The New York Times Co., will deliver this year's keynote address. As the Times Co.'s senior executive, he is responsible for its long-term business strategy. Over the past decade, Sulzberger has shaped and implemented innovative print, broadcast and online initiatives that are enabling the Company to compete in the 21st century global media marketplace.
The conference will feature panel discussions designed to provide media leaders and online journalists with insights into key issues in the medium, along with how-to ideas about stories and projects that they can take back to their newsrooms. Discussions will focus on practical tips and best practices on topics such as increasing interactivity, the role of participatory journalism, growing audience, best uses of video and creating more original Web reporting.
