Corey Clark Fires Back After 'Idol Spoof'
Corey Clark Fires Back After 'Idol Spoof'
LOS ANGELES, May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement is being issued by Jed Wallace, spokesman for Corey Clark:
By choosing to spoof such a serious situation on last night's final episode, FOX and American Idol have collectively made a complete mockery of their viewers, their sponsors, and the FCC. Instead of honoring their promise to conduct a proper investigation, FOX and American Idol continue to waste valuable time and energy on juvenile diversion tactics when they should be pursuing the truth. Whatever happened to FOX's statement claiming that "We [FOX] take any accusations of this nature very seriously, no matter their source, and we have already begun looking into them."
Have they really begun looking into them? Coca Cola is one of many who has expressed interest in hearing a formal response to the claims following an investigation -- where is it? Has the response come in the form of repeated farcical skits without such investigation? Clearly, FOX does find it appropriate to behave this blatantly in contempt of their own promises to investigate a serious accusation in a serious manner? We, however, can't imagine that the American people, Madison Avenue, and perhaps the FCC believe that by mocking the accusations on both Saturday Night Live, and now the season finale of the show, constitute taking the accusations "...very seriously?"
FOX is betting that public sentiment in favor of the show at large will override their duty to act responsibly and with integrity with regard to the serious charges laid before them; although clearly, this is a blatant misuse of power to seemingly cover lies, broken promises from the highest level executives and their abuse of the trust bestowed upon them by the American people. Ratings or no ratings, where is your professionalism, honor, and integrity?
