The Offspring Gear up for 2005 Warped Tour
NEW YORK, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Columbia Records is ready to release The Offspring's Greatest Hits, the first-ever career-spanning collection of bona fide hits from Orange County's legendary multi-platinum punk rock band, on Tuesday, June 21. A companion piece, The Offspring's Complete Music Video Collection, will be in stores on Tuesday, July 5.
The Offspring's Greatest Hits is being released as a both a conventional CD and as a DualDisc. The DualDisc version of Greatest Hits features the entire album on the audio-only side while the DVD side includes the full album in 5.1 stereo; an in-the-studio retrospective piece with The Offspring's Dexter Holland and Noodles offering anecdotes and insight into the group's history with the inside stories behind the hits; and an exclusive in-the- studio acoustic performance of "Dirty Magic," from the group's 1993 Epitaph album, Ignition.
Greatest Hits opens with the group's new single, "Can't Repeat," a brand- new previously unreleased song followed by three career-defining hits -- "Come Out And Play (Keep 'Em Separated)," "Self Esteem," and "Gotta Get Away" -- from The Offspring's 1994 watershed album on Epitaph, Smash, which has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide and is one of the best-selling independent releases of all time.
The Offspring's Greatest Hits also includes a non-stop series of bona fide hits culled from the group's Columbia Records catalog -- 1997's Ixnay On The Hombre ("All I Want," "Gone Away"); 1998's Americana ("Pretty Fly [For A White Guy]," "Why Don't You Get A Job?," "The Kids Aren't Alright"); 2000's Conspiracy Of One ("Original Prankster," "Want You Bad"); and 2003's Splinter ("Hit That," "[Can't Get My] Head Around You"). Rounding out The Offspring's Greatest Hits package is 2001's hit single, "Defy You," from the "Orange County" soundtrack.
Available on July 5, The Offspring's Complete Music Video Collection, a 2- 1/2 hour DVD showcasing all of the band's groundbreaking and often hilarious videos, from the early raw Epitaph clips through the group's new single, "Can't Repeat." The band's patented blend of rapid-fire musicianship, pulsing chords, unforgettable hooks, youth culture angst, and deadpan wit can be seen and heard in videos for "Come Out And Play (Keep 'Em Separated)," "Self Esteem," "Gotta Get Away," "All I Want," "Gone Away," "The Meaning Of Life," "I Choose," "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)," "Why Don't You Get A Job," "The Kids Aren't Alright," "She's Got Issues," "Original Prankster," "Want You Bad," "Defy You," "Hit That," "(Can't Get My) Head Around You," and "Can't Repeat." As an additional bonus for fans, The Offspring's Complete Music Video Collection includes the band-produced video rarities, "Da Hui" and "Cool To Hate."
Further bonus features on The Offspring's Complete Music Video Collection include a wry audio commentary on the videos from Dexter Holland and Noodles; a selection of live television performances; and "Guy Cohen: Where Is He Now?," Dexter's penetrating interview with the actor from "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)." The Offspring's Complete Music Video Collection is recorded in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.
The Offspring will headline this year's Warped Tour beginning June 18 in Columbus, Ohio (see full itinerary following).
One of the few rock bands in the world to achieve ongoing international platinum status while maintaining credibility, viability and enormous popularity with the oft-times fickle alt-rock audience, The Offspring began the group's string of international platinum album hits with 1994's Smash (Epitaph), which has sold more than 11 million copies across the globe. The band released Ixnay On The Hombre, its first platter for Columbia Records, in February 1997, following it up with the global sensation Americana, which has also sold more than 11 million copies worldwide since its release in November 1998.
The band's singles -- including "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)," "Self Esteem," "Original Prankster," "Hit That" and many others -- have dominated Alternative, Rock and Pop radio formats, helping to restore Rock to the nation's radio airwaves and video playlists.
From 1994's Smash through 2003's Splinter, the Offspring have sold more than 32 million albums worldwide.
