LOS ANGELES, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Sherman Oaks, California-born Brad Elterman's second and expanded showing of his photography exhibition, "Like It Was Yesterday," will commence with a star-studded opening night reception on Saturday, June 11th, 2005, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Jaxon House gallery, 1337 Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice, California, telephone (310) 401-0080. The exhibition will run through Saturday, July 9th during normal gallery hours, Sundays noon to 6 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Sample images may be previewed at Brad Elterman's website, http://www.bradelterman.com/.
Brad Elterman's first photography exhibition, the original "Like It Was Yesterday," debuted at the Don O'Melveny Gallery on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, California, last January, and drew raves from critics and the public alike (http://www.bradelterman.com/press.html), eventually being held over twice due to its popularity.
This Venice event will include fourteen selections not seen in the debut show, including Debbie Harry at Blondie's first Whisky show; Mark Mothersbaugh in his Devo days; Duran Duran's first L.A. photo session, on top of the Hyatt House with vistas of L.A. in the background; the Dead Boys at Aron's Records (with Stiv exposing himself); Michael Jackson with Liza Minnelli; Joan Jett in the middle of Santa Monica Boulevard; "B" movie star and nude model Kari Klark in Brad's SFV pool-a classic 1980 study of "boogie nights" in the Valley; Sid Vicious live on stage at a Sex Pistols show in San Francisco; Matt Dillon at 16; and three previously unseen classic photos from the "Behind the Beverly Hills Hotel" series with the dancing topless girl, the first of which was such a hit at Brad's Melrose show.
About the location of the new exhibit, Elterman explains, "Venice is the SoHo of Los Angeles." The photographer, himself a world traveler, finds a connection with the charm of Venice and its creative crowd. "It's the coolest neighborhood in Los Angeles and the only place in town where I've found a European vibe," he continues. "The response from my Melrose show has been incredible, especially from young and artist collectors. I'm excited about sharing my seventies photographs with the locals. I've toyed with pulling up stakes and moving to Venice on more than one occasion."
