PHILADELPHIA, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Big Talker 1210 AM WPHT, Philadelphia's Talk Radio Leader will host an exclusive head-to-head New Jersey Republican gubernatorial debate between GOP front-running candidates Douglas Forrester and Bret Schundler.

Morning Show Host Michael Smerconish will be hosting Forrester and Schundler in a LIVE hour-long debate with limited commercial interruption from 8am to 9am on Monday, May 23rd. "This debate will cover everything from tax reform to that incredible decision in Cape May to permit Speedos," quipped Smerconish.

According to Angelene Taccini, Deputy Communications Director for the Schundler camp, "Smerconish is hosting the ONLY one-on-one debate between the two gubernatorial front-runners Forrester & Schundler before the June 7th primary."

New Jersey likely Republican primary voters gave Forrester 36 percent, to 33 percent for Schundler, making the GOP race for Governor too close to call, according to an April 28th Quinnipiac University poll. Among the five other Republican contenders, only John Murphy reached the 5 percent mark. "Douglas Forrester and Bret Schundler are running neck and neck in the battle for the GOP nomination for New Jersey Governor, while the other candidates cannot be considered serious contenders," said Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
