XM Satellite Radio Takes South by Southwest Music Festival Coast-to-Coast With Live Broadcasts, Performance Showcases and Original Specials

WASHINGTON, March 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- XM Satellite Radio, the nation's leading satellite radio provider with more than 3.2 million subscribers, will share the music and energy of the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference and Festival with fans across the country through a series of exclusive live performances, interviews and original specials. For the second year in a row, XM will be the satellite radio home for live performances from SXSW, held March 16 through March 19 in Austin, Tex., the "live music capital of the world."

Throughout the festival, XM will broadcast select SXSW performances and artist interviews hosted live by XM's on-air staff. XM's live broadcast home during SXSW will be the Town Lake Stage at Auditorium Shores in the heart of downtown Austin. XM is a main sponsor of the SXSW Town Lake Stage that will feature free performances open to the public beginning Thursday, March 17 through Saturday, March 19.

XM also will be on hand for several attendee-only SXSW music showcases during the festival, including Americana Music Association Night; the BMI, Tracks and Cellus USA showcase; the Signature Sounds party; the Yep Roc/Harp Magazine party; and the exclusive Fader Magazine party. In April, XM will rebroadcast the sounds and excitement of SXSW with an extended special across multiple channels, featuring highlights from these live performances and artist interviews.

Additionally, Jessie Scott, program director for XM's progressive country channel, X Country (XM Channel 12), and Tobi, program director for XMU (XM Channel 43), XM's home for new and independent music, will participate in a special SXSW conference session, "Satellite Radio: Triumph of the Niche," on Friday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m.
