Motley's Red, White & Crue Nabs Top 10 Album Chart Debut Fueled by Active Rock Radio Play

Motley's Red, White & Crue Nabs Top 10 Album Chart Debut Fueled by Active Rock Radio Play

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Move over, Green Day and you, too, 3 Doors Down. Fellow Rock radio standout Motley Crue is back and bigger than ever.

The reunited band, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, Tommy Lee and Mick Mars, has just released its first album containing new material in seven years, the two-CD Island/UME anthology Red, White & Crue.

According to online music site hitsdailydouble.com, Red, White & Crue is poised to bow in the Billboard Top 10 next Wednesday (2/9) as the biggest debut of the week.

This marks the multi-platinum metal rockers' seventh album to crack the sales Top 10, highlighted by '89's chart-topping Dr. Feelgood.

The disc's first-week sales have been the result of steady Active Rock, Heritage and Mainstream airplay for "If I Die Tomorrow," one of three new songs on Red, White & Crue, which has been hovering near the Top 5 with Modern Rockers such as Green Day and 3 Doors Down, along with a year-long marketing campaign.

Said band co-founder Nikki Sixx: "That's just f**** incredible. Can that quote get us banned from the Billboard chart, like NBC's Jeff Zucker did to us? And how come he hasn't done the same to John Mayer and Bono? Didn't they both use a four-letter word in prime-time? At least Vince's came after midnight."

Indeed, the first Motley Crue world tour in six years, "Red White and Crue Tour 2005 ... Better Live than Dead," presented by VH1 and VH1 Classic, officially launches Feb. 17 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. When tickets went on sale in December, the tour quickly rose to #1 on Pollstar by year's end. The shows in Chicago (Allstate Arena, 2/19), Detroit (The Palace of Auburn Hills, 2/26) and New York (Madison Square Garden, 3/3) are already sold-out, with brisk ticket sales in other markets. As the band rehearses in Los Angeles, speculation continues to swirl about the typical over-the-top Crue production, which is said to be a three-ring circus with plenty of surprises.

Stay tuned for more as the band you thought you'd never see live again takes it to the road. "Better Live Than Dead" indeed.
