Lake Placid's 25th Presents A Night of Miracles, Memories and Magic

Note to radio and television: Pronunciation guide included at the end of the release

LAKE PLACID, N.Y., Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- It's been 25 years since many of these athletes appeared in Lake Placid. But through the efforts of International Management Group (IMG) -- the people who bring us Stars on Ice -- and officials in Lake Placid, Wednesday, February 23 promises to be A Night of Miracles, Memories and Magic in the famed Olympic Center beginning at 7:30.

The highlight event of the 25th anniversary celebration will feature most of the gold medal-winning 1980 United States hockey team including captain Mike Eruzione, skiing silver medalist Phil Mahre and brother Steve with other Olympians and noted guests to be named up until show time.

The late Herb Brooks, who coached the 1980 U.S. hockey team to victory, will be remembered in a special ceremony.

A Night of Miracles, Memories and Magic is made possible through the continuing support of I LOVE NY, Chevrolet and Coca-Cola.

This historic night, written and choreographed by IMG, will present a moving tribute in film and sound, to the athletes and stories that make the Lake Placid Winter Games an event that restored pride in a nation and elevated the Winter Olympics to the status it enjoys today.

The night of February 23 will present the following 1980 figure skating lineup:

-- Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner, 1979 World Champions in pairs skating,

were favorites to win gold 25 years ago until a late injury to Gardner
forced them to withdraw. They will finally skate on Lake Placid ice.

-- Linda Fratianne, 1980 silver medalist in singles

-- Charles Tickner, 1980 bronze medalist in singles

-- Kitty and Peter Carruthers, 1984 silver medalists in pairs

-- Denise Biellmann of Switzerland, 1981 World Champion

-- Lisa-Marie Allen, three-time National Championship silver medalist

-- Josef Sabovcik, Czech Republic, 1984 silver medalist in singles
