Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), a leading global provider of wireless
equipment and services, has been selected to supply a new microwave radio
network to Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), the fastest-growing liquefied natural
gas plant in the world. The contract covers all internal communications
between NLNG's Bonny Island complex, five NLNG's Gas Transmitting sites and
NLNG's Port Harcourt Office, incorporating installation and servicing of all
point-to-point wireless equipment, including antennas and towers.
Nigeria LNG Limited is the fastest-growing company in the history of the
LNG industry. To meet the communications and networking needs of this rapidly
expanding company, Harris will provide microwave solutions to connect NLNG's
buildings and plant complex and gas transmitting sites, enabling wireless
communication throughout the large complex operational area.
In addition to NLNG, Harris Microwave Communications Division has
provided radio network links for most of the major oil and gas operators in
this industry.
"A key factor in the success of this project is Harris' fully staffed
office in Nigeria. The staff is experienced in program management, network
design, engineering and installation," remarked Joseph Joseph, Harris
Corporation Microwave Division's regional director for Middle East and
Africa. "This win positions Harris to work alongside the Nigerian Federal
Government on other major projects."
Harris leads the wireless backhaul industry with its newest product
family, TRuepoint(TM), the first universal platform for point-to-point
digital communications. TRuepoint's modular, software-selectable architecture
is able to seamlessly switch between PDH and SDH applications, enabling
service providers to use a universal platform to deliver multiple
applications throughout their networks.
