Gyeonggi Internet Trade Center Launches TradeHelper.org
Web Marketplace Promotes International Trade With South Korea
SUWON, South Korea, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the U.S. Census Bureau, South Korea ranked seventh in trade with the United States in November 2004, accounting for 3.2% of all U.S. imports and exports. Now the non-profit Gyeonggi Internet Trade Center (KIT) is hoping to boost those figures with the launch of TradeHelper.org (http://www.tradehelper.org/), a new B2B portal aimed at increasing international trade with South Korean businesses.
Established by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government in 1999, KIT has spent the last five years incubating new Internet-based businesses, facilitating export contracts for members, conducting workshops, and raising global awareness of emerging South Korean companies.
With TradeHelper.org, though, KIT has set its sights on making it easier for international businesses to find and begin working with South Korean companies. Visitors can view thousands of trade leads, organized by industry and by whether the poster is interested in buying or selling a product or service. The site's "Frontier List" presents new Internet companies, complete with company profiles, contact information and links to their sites.
TradeHelper.org membership is free, allowing members to make inquiries for products to buy or sell, receive trade leads based on their company profiles, subscribe to the TradeHelper.org newsletter and, in the case of Frontier companies, create online catalogs to showcase their products.
But perhaps the most innovative features of TradeHelper.org are interactive: The TradeHelper Standing Expo, an online expo of member businesses complete with e-business cards, meeting scheduling capability and live chats; and the Movie Pavilion, which shows short videos of member business presentations.
In creating TradeHelper.org, KIT drew on the abundance of high-tech know- how available in companies throughout Gyeonggi, South Korea's technology hub which surrounds the country's capital city of Seoul. And thanks to their efforts, TradeHelper.org is already gaining ground, with over 5,000 members and trade leads from Asia, Europe and North America.
It's a good start, say KIT representatives. They're more interested in the broader results their site brings to South Korean businesses, though, than they are in Web stats. To that end, KIT will continue to enhance TradeHelper.org - and continue their efforts to bring more South Korean products and services to homes and businesses around the world.
