Asia's Largest International Wedding and Photographic Equipment Exhibition to be Held in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, China, Feb. 21 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- After Chinese Spring Festival, the 7th China (Shanghai) International Wedding Photographic Equipment Exhibition, the largest in Asia, will be held in Shanghai from February 24 to 27, 2005. Exhibition sponsors include Shanghai World Expo (Group) Co., Ltd., China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Shanghai sub-council and Shanghai Photographers' Association and is organized by the Shanghai International Exhibition Service Corporation. Due to the growing expansion of the exhibition, this year's exhibition will be simultaneously held, for the first time, at the INTEX Shanghai and shanghaimart, covering a total exhibition area of 22,000 square meters.

Based on statistics for the past few years, there are approximately 10 million couples getting married each year in China, resulting in sales totaling RMB250 billion on marriage-related items per year. By the year 2010, the consumption capacity, with regards to wedding ceremonies, is expected to reach hundreds of billions of RMB, giving great potential to the industry. In Shanghai, there are about 80,000 to 150,000 couples getting married each year. Research conducted by a related institution shows that each new couple spends on average about RMB12,000 on their wedding. This ensures very bright prospects for the wedding and photography industry.

Earning praises locally and abroad, the Exhibition has grown into the trade platform of the studio photography industry in Asia and the Pacific. This year's exhibit has attracted exhibitors from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, China and the Hong Kong SAR. Over 250 companies will take part in the exhibition. Items will be displayed by category in two different venues. Wedding gowns, full dresses, cosmetics, wedding decorations and studio photography articles will be showcased in the INTEX Shanghai. Photo albums, background and studio photography sample films, video products, colored picture enlargements, as well as other photography-related products will be displayed at the Shanghaimart. For the first time, South Korea will send a delegation to participate in the exhibition to showcase their modern wedding gowns. Tsai Mei Yue International Wedding Gown Company will launch their newest wedding gowns and eveningwear collection.

During the exhibition, "The Second-Hand Camera Collection and Exchange Fair," as well as other photography related launchings will be unveiled.
