TheJoyLife.org Helps People Focus on Positive Even in Tough Times
BROOKLYN, N.Y., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- For people wondering how to stay joyful in the face of economic hardships, natural disasters and wars, could it be as simple as focusing on the positive? A group of psychologists and communication experts say yes. And to help more people develop a positive outlook on life, they have established the Joy Life Center (http://www.thejoylife.org/), an online personal trainer for the brain.
"Happiness depends on how we view the world around us," stated one of the founders of the Joy Life Center. "TheJoyLife.org teaches us to exercise our minds to look for the positive, use that positive outlook to discover our own strong points and strengths, and then employ those strengths to face challenge head on."
To that end, TheJoyLife.org is designed to be used as a daily workout for the mind, with health club-themed sections like MindGym; Fulfillment Tools, for strengthening problem areas; a relaxation area, chat rooms for getting acquainted with other members of the "club," and a well-stocked library of articles for learning more about TheJoyLife.org exercise method. Each member has a private virtual trainer, aptly coined "Joy," to provide instruction and motivation.
"TheJoyLife.org is based on the premise that it's easier to dwell on the negative, that we forget to stop and smell the flowers and watch the sunset," said another Joy Life Center founder. "How we interpret routine activities will determine whether we view our lives as boring and overwhelming or as an exciting challenge. A positive outlook will result in personal growth - and personal growth will lead to greater achievement."
Still, the founders of the Joy Life Center said TheJoyLife.org is not a quick fix; they cautioned that there is no miracle drug that can provide instant fulfillment. Instead, TheJoyLife.org is an easy-to-use brain training program that can lead to greater self-awareness and satisfaction when members correctly use the site's various resources to make changes in the way they view their lives and the world around them.
Though news of tragedy and unrest around the world may be unavoidable, say the founders of TheJoyLife.org, that doesn't mean the average person can't still feel content most of the time. Misery is, after all, optional - but, in the case of TheJoyLife.org, happiness is not.
