The Snead at The Greenbrier Sporting Club Named One of the Top Ten New Private Courses in America

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Snead golf course at The Greenbrier Sporting Club received the no. 3 spot on Golf Digest's "Top 10 New Private Courses in America." The ratings were published in the January 2005 issue of Golf Digest.

The Snead is the members-only golf course at The Greenbrier Sporting Club, a private residential sporting community located on grounds of the famed Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Named for long-time Greenbrier pro, Sam Snead, the course measures 7,025 yards, with five sets of tees.

Renowned architect, Tom Fazio, designed the par-71, private golf course, which officially opened April 30, 2004. "Bearing The Greenbrier and Snead names, how could this course not be special? I am honored to be a part of such a great place and recognized by Golf Digest for my work on this course," said Fazio, who had three courses named to the 2004 ratings. "The Snead is a very unique golf course that will stand the test of time like The Greenbrier, and an appealing addition to The Greenbrier Sporting Club amenities."

The Greenbrier Sporting Club is a private residential community and sporting club with fairway, mountain and creekside homesites. In addition to The Snead, other members-only sporting club amenities include a members' lodge, spa, and sports complex.
