FunMail Inc. Enables U.S. Consumers to Use Their Mobile Phones to Donate to Tsunami Relief Efforts

Consumers Can Purchase Special Charity Wallpapers, With Proceeds Donated to Tsunami Victims and Rebuilding Efforts

PLEASANTON, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- FunMail Inc. announced today it will enable U.S. consumers to use their mobile phones to contribute funds to tsunami relief efforts. FunMail will sell special charity-themed wallpapers through their portals such as Wallpaper Universe, and will donate 100% of their proceeds to charities supporting the relief and rebuilding efforts for tsunami victims.

"This tragedy affects all citizens of the world," said FunMail CEO Adam Lavine. "The President and former Presidents Clinton and Bush are calling on Americans and U.S. companies to do whatever they can to help the tsunami victims. We can do our part by enabling consumers to use their mobile phones to donate funds through usage of a FunMail service."

FunMail is in discussions with several national mobile phone carriers to enable charitable giving on their networks. FunMail said that the service would be available on nationwide wireless carriers as early as next week.

Charitable wireless donations have been available in Europe and Asia through premium SMS billing. SMS is popular in the United States for messaging, hasn't been a popular method of billing as it is in Europe and Asia.

FunMail is one of America's leading distributors of mobile wallpaper, which enables consumers to personalize the backgrounds of their color phones. Having an existing service and distribution channel, plus pre-existing billing agreements with carriers that enables FunMail to bill directly to consumer's phone bills, puts the company in a unique position to offer charitable donations in the United States.

"Charity wallpaper is something we've been talking about for a while," said Lavine. "When this tragic event happened, we decided it was time to stop talking about it and just go ahead and do something to support the relief efforts."
