'Conversations' Connects Languages of Art, Science

LA Artists Team With Museum Curators for
Exhibition Set to Open February 20th

WHAT: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County will
present "Conversations," an exhibition that pairs museum
curators with contemporary artists to take a fresh look at
the museum's rich collections.

Visitors will view original works of art in a variety of
media created by six prominent contemporary artists and
inspired by the museum's collections. The exhibit explores
the "Conversations" between these artists and scientists,
illuminating the spirit of discovery the artifacts inspire
creatively and scientifically.

WHO: The artists featured in "Conversations" at the Natural
History Museum include Kim Abeles, Lita Albuquerque,
Tony Berlant, Paul McCarthy, Ed Moses and John Valadez.

PRINTS: Self-Help Graphics & Art, an LA-based visual arts center,
will publish a suite of silk screens by five of the
exhibition artists that complement the exhibit and that
will be displayed at the Museum. The silk screens will be
previewed during an evening celebration of the exhibit,
"Art & Sol," scheduled for February 4th. The special
edition prints are available for purchase through the
Museum.

EVENING PROGRAMS:
As part of the museum's ongoing monthly live programming, FIRST FRIDAYS,
