Buying Supplies for the Medical Center Will Be Streamlined
ANNAPOLIS, Md., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC), which serves more than 600,000 residents in a five-county area of Maryland, has signed an agreement with Omnicell, Inc. (NASDAQ:OMCL) to install OmniBuyer, a secure, Web-based software application that automates supply requisition and approval processes. Completion of the installation is set for July 1, 2005.
"OmniBuyer will not only help increase the efficiencies and timeliness for procuring medical supplies, services, and equipment, it will also help reduce the medical center's overhead costs," explained Steve Warrington, the medical center's director of materiel management. "We'll be able to track our ordering habits and give requestors the ability to track their requisitions through the approvals process and see when the request becomes a purchase order sent to a supplier."
"OmniBuyer integrates into our existing MEDITECH computer systems, incorporating buyer-specific business rules such as spending limits, contract pricing, approval routing, line-item approval, and customized user access profiles." Warrington states, "OmniBuyer offers a flexible procurement tool enabling AAMC to move from manual procurement methods to automated technologies, including XML."
