Who Will be the Next Head Coach at Notre Dame?
WagerWeb Posts Odds On: 'Who Will Be the Next Head Football Coach at Notre Dame?'
ZAPOTE, Costa Rica, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- A 21-15 record and two bowl game appearances in three seasons were not enough; Tyrone Willingham is out as the head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Willingham, who came from Stanford Cardinals, was hired with high expectations from day one, and the fact that Notre Dame, whom many consider Football University in America, hired an African American coach, made those expectations unfortunately even higher.
What also hurt Norte Dame, which has nothing to do with Willingham, is the fact that it has gotten much harder to get into Notre Dame academically, and the University has conceded nothing when it comes to student athletes getting in, as many other top division 1 schools do. In today's age of big money for NCAA athletics, there are just too many compromises that are made to get student athletes into a school, which in the long run hurts Universities' standards. It is a great irony that a school like Notre Dame would be hurt in recruiting as a result of doing something that is right and for the good of academia.
"It's amazing to see a coach with a winning record who plays the toughest schedule in America get fired in just three seasons; sadly it is a sign of the times," said Wagerweb.com CEO Dave Johnson. "Willingham won't be out of a job for long, but we have already received a tremendous amount of wagers on Utah Utes coach Urban Meyer to take over at Notre Dame, making him the clear-cut favorite."
There is already rampant speculation as to who will take over for Willingham and coach the Irish next season. Utah Utes coach Urban Meyer is at the top of everyone's list, and it is thought that he held out on the Florida Gators job for an opportunity like this. Other names being mentioned are Iowa Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz, LSU Tigers coach Nick Saban and California Golden Bears coach Jeff Tedford.

FIELD (Any Other Not Listed Above) 1:1 EVEN
**Odds Explanation, on a wager for Urban Meyer to be the next Notre Dame
