DALLAS, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- December 31 is the busiest day of the year for entertainment retailer BLOCKBUSTER as consumers descend on stores to fulfill their entertainment needs as they ring in the New Year. This New Year's Eve, BLOCKBUSTER takes one last look at the year gone by with the most popular movies of the year.

To help customers make their New Year's movie selections, BLOCKBUSTER has released a list of 2004's most popular movie rentals. Topping the list is "Man on Fire," the most rented movie at BLOCKBUSTER in 2004.

BLOCKBUSTER Extends New Year's Store Hours

To accommodate movie rental demand, BLOCKBUSTER stores across the country will have extended hours over the New Year's holiday. Stores will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve and from 10 a.m. to midnight on New Year's Day. (Hours may vary slightly in local markets.) And, don't forget, on Jan. 1, 2005, Blockbuster will no longer charge late fees.
