MINDsprinting Revolutionizes Supplemental Education With Internet Delivered Worksheet Program

MINDsprinting Revolutionizes Supplemental Education With Internet Delivered Worksheet Program

CHICAGO, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago based-MINDsprinting LLC announces the introduction of a specially designed K-12 supplemental education program that assigns lessons, conveniently delivers them over the Internet, and costs a fraction of what leading non-Internet tutoring programs charge.

"Education is a big concern today. That's why K-12 supplemental education programs are in great demand, both for enrichment and remedial purposes," said CEO Steven M. Golden, who co-founded MINDsprinting with his brother Douglas J. Golden. "The Internet is the most cost-efficient delivery system there is. And it's convenient. So we were very surprised to discover that no one was using it to provide affordable, effective, K-12 tutoring."

MINDsprinting enables any student with Internet access and a printer to use its self-paced tutoring programs, which assign lessons based upon a student's starting skills and subsequent achievements. According to Golden, MINDsprinting is not "reinventing the [supplemental education] wheel"; its core curriculum has been honed over 20 years and has helped hundreds of thousands of students improve their skills. Initial program offerings include math and reading comprehension, and the math program (and the entire website) will soon be available in Spanish and French. Additional subjects and languages are planned for the future.

The company offers its proven curriculum in a "worksheet" format; the same format used by the largest franchiser/provider of tutoring services. But MINDsprinting's efficiencies allows it to offer its programs for $15 per program per month ($180 per year), while the largest franchiser/provider charges $80-$110 per program per month ($1,200 per year) and small group tutoring programs typically cost more than $500 per month ($6,000 per year). And MINDsprinting parents don't have to drive to learning centers. Delivering assigned lessons over the Internet allows learning to occur at home.

Enrolling in MINDsprinting is quick and easy. Afterwards, students take an interactive Assessment Test (for no extra charge) that analyzes their skill levels and determines the appropriate starting point in their program. For example, the math Test identifies the highest skills mastered as well as any lower skills not truly mastered (but which need to be for effective future learning). Then MINDsprinting creates a specially tailored program for the student and a detailed Assessment Test report that is immediately e-mailed to the parent.

Since MINDsprinting lessons are printed and done in a time-proven manner (by hand) instead of sitting in front of a computer, even families without home computers can partake; parents can print the lessons at work. And both parents and students will marvel at how easy MINDsprinting is to use. A parent or student simply goes to the site, enters their password, and clicks on the printer icon next to the assignment. Adults correct the finished assignments (using the printable Answer Key provided), report the results on their personal "Dashboard," and MINDsprinting does the rest.

MINDsprinting's programs are designed to ensure students understand the material -- that each "building block" is properly in place -- before advancing. For example, if a math lesson is not "passed", a companion Homework is immediately assigned for further practice. MINDsprinting recommends 3 lessons per program per week (and each one should take less than 20 minutes).

MINDsprinting provides a number of other user-friendly features, such as: Fast Tracking, which allows parents and teachers to create specially targeted lesson plans; Problem Solver, which shows how particular math problems should be done; and up-to-the-minute Progress Reports and detailed Transcripts, both of which can be easily printed or e-mailed to teachers, friends, and family. Furthermore, MINDsprinting provides incentives and rewards for students to do their assignments.

Coming out of retirement to help launch MINDsprinting, Steven M. Golden was the founder and CEO of CoolSavings, a leading provider of targeted promotional offers to members via the Internet. Within 3 years of launch, CoolSavings enrolled more than 15 million members. Douglas J. Golden was a practicing business attorney for more than 20 years before devoting his full time efforts to MINDsprinting.
