Moreover Technologies Delivers Next Generation Aggregated Current Awareness Solution - CI-Metabase 7.0

New Ability to Extract Geographic Information from News Content Enables Wide Range of Location-Based Applications

Expanded Content Coverage Delivers Even More Complete View of Current Awareness, Including Online News, Weblogs, and Broadcast News

LONDON and SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Moreover Technologies, the premier provider of aggregated online current awareness and business information, today announced the availability of the Moreover Connected Intelligence (CI) Metabase 7.0, the comprehensive XML database of real-time online news. Delivering the ability to build high-value applications that incorporate aggregated online current awareness, the CI-Metabase 7.0 is the foundation of every product Moreover provides for enterprises, Web portals, independent software vendors and consumers -- from RSS newsfeeds to news search to direct XML streams.

Celebrating seven years of development and representing some 100 person-years of effort, the Moreover CI-Metabase 7.0 delivers several major enhancements:

-- Geographic Location Metadata -- Intelligently extracts geographic
location data from news article content to enable location-based news
applications.
-- Broadcast Content Pack -- Delivers access to news and information from
40 channels of broadcast video and audio content.
-- Metadata Additions -- Extracts North American Industry Classification
System (NAICS) Financial Codes, article genre, and publisher names to
allow even more precise filtering.
-- More Comprehensive Content Coverage -- Three optional Content Packs
provide access to more than 4 million news articles from over
8,600 online sources, more than 750,000 Weblogs and more than 40 video
and audio Broadcast Channels.

"With so much quality news spread across the Internet, the challenge is how to efficiently find the most relevant content and organize it for analysis in applications such as competitive intelligence, media analytics, brand and reputation management, and business intelligence," said Jim Pitkow, chief executive officer and president of Moreover Technologies. "By providing the most accurate location tagging technology, along with Weblog and broadcast content, the CI-Metabase 7.0 further demonstrates Moreover's commitment to providing the highest quality aggregated online current awareness across all media."

Location-Based News

As an option to the Moreover CI-Metabase 7.0, the Geographic Location Metadata offers the ability to create a complete range of location-based news services by intelligently analyzing online news to infer location from article content. Going far beyond simply determining the location of the news source or using basic keyword matching, Moreover's combination of advanced lexical, semantic and contextual analysis builds a robust geographic location metadata hierarchy for each news article. Geographic metadata includes world regions and sub-regions, countries, states and provinces, counties, cities, zip and post codes -- all geo-referenced by longitude and latitude. It also includes non-addressable entities or points of interest (POI) such as schools and universities, major sports and entertainment complexes and transport nodes.

Broadcast Content Pack

Moreover has combined sophisticated voice recognition software with intelligent indexing and categorization to transcribe, index and organize more than 40 video and audio broadcast channels. The optional Broadcast Content Pack enables the real-time monitoring of broadcast content containing extracted headlines and full text transcriptions.

More Precise Metadata

The CI-Metabase 7.0 delivers even more flexibility and precision through the addition of three new metadata fields: NAICS Financial Codes, article genre and publisher name. The extraction of NAICS Financial Codes from news content provides the ability to search, filter or analyze articles based upon this uniform, industry-wide classification system designed as the index for statistical reporting of all economic activities of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The 'genre' metadata field identifies and categorizes news articles into 15 different types of content, including analysis, downloads, events, general news, obituaries, opinion, reports, tutorials and more. The 'publisher name' metadata field enhances the ability to identify and analyze new content by source. When coupled with the other information extracted by Moreover, such as source and author name, organizations can gain better insight into publication trends.

Expanded Content Coverage and Delivery

The Moreover CI-Metabase 7.0 provides access to a wide range of media through optional Content Packs that allow customers to choose the content that best fits their specific needs:

-- The Current Awareness Pack accesses more then 8,600 hand picked,
editorially ranked online sources -- harvesting over 4 million articles
per month, organizing them into more than 380 categories, and adding
over 30 descriptive metadata fields.
-- The Weblog Content Pack provides insight into unsolicited consumer and
'thought leader' opinion contained in over 750,000 Weblogs.
-- The Broadcast Content Pack delivers convenient access to news content
from more than 40 Broadcast video and audio channels.
