LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Wondery is today announcing the launch of its first original scripted podcast series, Secrets, Crimes & Audiotape. Secrets, Crimes & Audiotape will feature dramas and comedies about crime, love, mystery and conspiracy. Each story will play over multiple half-hour weekly episodes, available as free podcasts on iTunes, Stitcher, Wondery.com, and other platforms.

Behind the launch are Wondery's Founder Hernan Lopez and President of Content Jeffrey Glaser, formerly President and CEO of Fox International Channels, and EVP of Current Programming for 20(th) Century Fox TV, respectively. "Think of your favorite scripted TV show, but using only audio and your imagination," said Lopez. "That's the experience we want to create with Secrets, Crimes & Audiotape."

The premiere story "A Beautiful Spell," featuring Jenna Elfman ("Dharma & Greg") and Bodhi Elfman ("Criminal Minds"), will span the first three episodes. Adapted from Greg Kalleres' stage play, "A Beautiful Spell" tells the story of a husband and wife who wake up in the middle of the night afraid they may have fallen out of love, prompting them to review their insecurities, jealousies and fantasies until dawn.

"Wondery is providing an amazing outlet for great stories that we can listen to on our schedule and anywhere - giving our imagination an avenue to be stimulated again," said Jenna Elfman.

"It's exciting to work with such talented writers, producers and actors and within a short time, create dynamic storytelling that expands our choices of on-demand entertainment," said Glaser.

Future episodes will include "Air Force One," about the 60 minutes following the assassination of JFK focusing on the doubts Jacqueline Kennedy had about whether people close to her husband could have had a hand in the crime; and "Upper West Blues: A Black Cat Murder Mystery," from award-winning writer Marcy Kahan, a murder mystery told from the perspective of a cat who was a key witness.

New episodes of Secrets, Crimes & Audiotape will be available every Tuesday beginning with the September 20(th) premiere.

Secrets, Crimes & Audiotape joins the podcast network as the second Wondery-Original, alongside the critically acclaimed FOUND, hosted by This American Life contributor Davy Rothbart. FOUND explores personal stories of love, loss, hope, transformation and aspiration through the lens of lost and found notes. The network also recently acquired partner show Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald, previously of E!'s Chelsea Lately.
