LOS ANGELES, May 20, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Drawing upon his experience, Walter O'Brien, founder of Scorpion Computer Services and the inspiration for the hit CBS series, Scorpion, will welcome close to 1,000 competitors to the final day of the California State Science Fair on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 8:00am.

Walter O'Brien's unique story will serve as an inspiration for the competitors who are all middle and high school students. According to Scorpion Computer Services, at the age of 9, O'Brien was designated a child prodigy after scoring 197 on an IQ test. He started Scorpion Computer Services at the age of 13 to service local businesses and financial institutions and navigate their introduction to analytics, computerization, and the internet. Nearly 1000 participating students with 845 projects represent 30 affiliated county and multi-county regional science fairs throughout California. Their projects span 22 categories - from aerodynamics/hydrodynamics to zoology - in two age divisions and will be judged by a volunteer pool of some 400 scientists and engineers from private industry and higher education.

The public is invited to view the 2016 edition of innovative projects during the public viewing period on Monday, May 23 from 3:00-4:30 PM. Students will be present to answer questions. Admission is free. The California State Science Fair culminates with two award ceremonies Tuesday, May 24 in the Science Center's Wallis Annenberg Building: The Junior Division ceremony will take place from 4:00-5:00 PM, followed by the Senior Division ceremony from 5:30-6:30 PM.

The California Science Center is located at 700 Exposition Park Drive, Los Angeles. Parking is $12.00 per car in the visitor lot at Figueroa and 39th/Exposition Park Drive.
