TORONTO, April 20 /CNW/ - Canadian multidisciplinary artist Terrence Jon's NEVER GIVE UP! is a poetic conceptual art piece. An interactive site-specific multimedia intervention + touring show featuring painting, sculpture, installation, video, live performance, original music. What started as a POEM has become a SONG that has grown into a MOVEMENT that brings people & communities together via an art & music experience, celebrating and reflecting each distinct culture through an uplifting universal message.

On April 9(th), Terrence Jon officially launched the NEVER GIVE UP! project in Merida Mexico at Las Palmas Art Hub in conjunction with Lux Perpetua Art Centre. The launch featured a live performance by Terrence & fellow Torontonian Jeff Gunn based on a series of compositions written as an extension of the art pieces.

NEVER GIVE UP! is the first single to be released as Terrence and Jeff Gunn will be completing the NEVER GIVE UP! full album in May with Grammy nominated producers Brian West (Sia, Maroon 5), Dru DeCaro (Miguel), Mark 'Pelli' Pellizzer (Magic!), and engineer Blake Harden (Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott) before taking their interactive art music show on the road in North America and Europe this summer.

The Story Behind NEVER GIVE UP!

NEVER GIVE UP! was written by Terrence Jon originally as a poem. The poem was destined to evolve into a song when by chance he happened to be in staying infamous historic Luftschloss Castle House in the Hollywood Hills at the same time as his cousin Jeff Gunn flew into LA for the NAMM Show, they jammed for the first time in the living room one morning and NGU! song was born. Months later they were invited to record the song with Grammy Award Nominated producer (& fellow Canadian) Brian West at his Hollywood Recording Studio.

Terrence Jon fell into the role of a modern pop art organic crooner. His original sound and lyrics remind one of David Bowie, Tony Bennett, Leonard Cohen, Jim Morrison... he is a poet --- a singer/songwriter whose words and rare voice resonate in a deep rich way that touches your spirit and soul immediately.

Collaborating, with his accomplished cousin Jeff Gunn on guitar, there seems to be a genetic chemistry that produces magical music naturally streaming from their interaction, instantly communicating with vocals and guitar. Jeff is Juno Award Nominated guitarist, songwriter, producer for his work with Emmanuel Jal & Nelly Furtado on The Key album in 2015.

Terrence Jon's multi-faceted art explodes in today's escalating globe with the rich intensity of a hip prophet. The Canadian artist's newest offering within his "cULTURE:gLU" project will stick on you!

Delving into the challenges of everyday life for inspiration, artist's expressions spin into mixed media paintings, hybrid-sculpture (often re-constructing famous monuments out of culture-specific objects), layered video and interactive reflective installations, stackings that pop the senses as illusory assemblages-playing with light, shadow, altering language while beautify translating the historic, the monumental, often ancient, into contemporary form. In the end, he succeeds in capturing the human condition by illuminating our world in an entirely original fashion.

Heavily influenced from his nomadic practice and travels, which has seen him selected for numerous international exhibitions and artist residencies, Terrence Jon has presented his art in Paris, Berlin, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Barcelona, Lisbon to name a few pit-stops along the way... most recently dividing his time between studios in Hollywood and Merida Mexico.

Through his well versed voice, artist streams via rhyming words, reflecting concepts, beliefs, life lessons, observations, though intense dialogue he defines as "cULTURE:gLU" where his art continues through his vocals -rocking out, singing about life with a degree of intensity that transforms the average or the everyday with an organic edginess until the strength of his rhythmic expression finally bursts into the incredible, amazing, even dazzling.
