iWedia Markets HLS and DASH Client Libraries and Stresses the Benefits of Mastering the Client Side of These Adaptive Bit Rate Technologies

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, January 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

iWedia, a leading provider of software solutions for TV devices to service operators
and Consumer Electronics manufacturers, today announced it markets client libraries for
HLS and DASH and stressed the benefits of mastering the client side of these Adaptive Bit
Rate (ABR) technologies.

The announcement was made at CES 2016, which is being held in Las Vegas from Wednesday,
January 6th through to Saturday, January 9th. iWedia exhibits at the Venetian/Palazzo
hospitality suites where it will showcase its HLS and DASH implementations.

Mastering the ABR client side allows to enhance the robustness of the live TV use
cases and to improve the zapping time and support to trick modes. The client software can
be easily tuned to better fit with the Content Delivery Network (CDN) that is used. A
detailed monitoring of the QoS/QoE is made possible as every possible parameter can be
retrieved over the TR-069 protocol.

Moreover sophisticated adaptation and bandwidth estimation algorithms have been put in
place which allows more accurate switching between bit rates in unstable network
conditions.

"Over-The-Top has become a major video delivery mechanism. It is now used even in
managed environments and not only for video on demand but also for live TV," said Herve
Creff, VP Marketing at iWedia. "In that context it is of an utmost importance to master
the ABR client software in order to contribute to delivering the best possible experience
to the viewer."

The HLS and DASH client libraries are proposed as stand alone software components as
well as integrated within iWedia's STB software solutions for Linux-based connected
zappers (Teatro-3.0) and for Android TV-based STB (Teatro-3.5).
