Dans la rue releases Pops Culture, a musical compilation honouring Father Emmett "Pops" Johns
MONTREAL, Jan. 12, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Dans la rue invites the media to celebrate the launch of the album Pops Culture on Wednesday, January 27, at 5:30 p.m. at the Lion d'Or in Montreal.
This is Dans la rue's second compilation album, after INSPIRE in 2013. It is the result of a collaboration between 15 young users of Dans la rue's services and some 20 well-known performers from Quebec's musical community, including Damien Robitaille, Alexandre Désilets, Boogat, Michel Langevin (Voivod), Betty Bonifassi, Julien Sagot (formerly of Karkwa) and five musicians from the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
Through Pops Culture, these young singer-songwriters wish to pay tribute to Father Emmett Johns, known affectionately as "Pops," and say thank you for founding Dans la rue, an organization making a difference in the lives of homeless youth for over 27 years.
