Business technology and academic leader, Ginny Dybenko, joins TVO's Board of Directors

TORONTO, Jan. 11, 2016 /CNW/ - TVO's Chair of the Board of Directors, Peter O'Brian, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ginny Dybenko as a member of the Board.

"Ms. Dybenko brings a wealth of knowledge to the Board of Directors," said Peter O'Brian, Chair of the TVO Board of Directors. "Her unique perspective on technology, innovation, and education coupled with her exceptional leadership skills will be of great benefit to TVO as we continue to make our unique content accessible to Ontarians across the digital landscape."

Residing in New Hamburg, Ms. Dybenko has more than 30 years of experience in the corporate world. An advocate for technology and passionate about education and mentorship, Ms. Dybenko is the Executive Director at the University of Waterloo's Stratford Campus focusing on innovation sparked by the interplay between digital media, international commerce, and human culture. Prior, she held the position of Dean of the School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University and was the founding President and CEO of Bell Advanced Communications. Ms. Dybenko currently sits on a number of boards including: Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), Institute for Chartered Accountants (ICAO) and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. Ms. Dybenko was named the 2013 Governor General's Barnraiser Award recipient, was recognized by the Women's Executive Network as one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women and was one of the speakers for TEDxUW 2014.

"Ms. Dybenko's expertise in digital media and how it enables our lives will be of great value to TVO as we grow our roles as Ontario's partner for digital learning inside and outside the classroom and as the digital public space for Ontario perspective current affairs," said Lisa de Wilde, Chief Executive Officer of TVO.

Pursuant of the Ontario Educational Communications Authority Act, the Ontario Government appointed Ginny Dybenko for a 3-year term that runs from December 9, 2015 to December 8, 2018.
