TORONTO, Oct. 6, 2015 /CNW/ - For 100 days leading up to the delivery of the 2015 Ontario Budget this past April, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne granted a documentary film crew unprecedented, up-close-and-personal access to her day-to-day life. Now, W5 presents the debut of PREMIER: THE UNSCRIPTED KATHLEEN WYNNE on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, CTV GO, and CTVNews.ca. In keeping with the brand of fair, honest, and fearless journalism synonymous with the W5 name for five decades, the special, one-hour, behind-the-scenes documentary, produced by White Pine Pictures' award-winning Peter Raymont, presents Wynne in some of her most candid moments.

Beginning Oct. 16, PREMIER: THE UNSCRIPTED KATHLEEN WYNNE will also stream on CraveTV, as part of its popular documentary collection.

"A healthy democracy depends on open, accessible government," said Raymont. "This documentary gives viewers the rare opportunity to be a fly on the wall, following one of Canada's foremost political leaders and witnessing how government decisions are made."

"This is a compelling documentary and it offers really quite incredible insight into the premier's office," said Anton Koschany, Executive Producer, W5.

Wynne is responsible for the biggest province in Canada, home to the country's highest population, largest economy, and biggest deficit costing Ontarians billions of dollars per year in interest. But what really goes on behind the closed doors of provincial power? PREMIER: THE UNSCRIPTED KATHLEEN WYNNE provides a rare and private glimpse into the life of a public servant, from life at home with her partner Jane Rounthwaite, to highlighting the pivotal and sometimes controversial policies and plans enacted during Premier Wynne's time in office. From crafting a budget that attempts to address Ontario's $300 billion debt to unveiling her government's plan to end sexual violence and harassment, the revealing documentary also chronicles the course of a Sudbury by-election which became the subject of a police investigation and is now before the courts.

PREMIER: THE UNSCRIPTED KATHLEEN WYNNE begins streaming on CraveTV on Friday, Oct. 16. W5 also airs Saturdays at 10 p.m. ET and Sundays at 5 p.m. ET on CTV Two, and at 7 p.m. ET on CTV News Channel. W5 can also be seen on Investigation Discovery on Tuesdays at 11 p.m. ET, and Wednesdays at 12 noon ET; on demand at CTVNews.ca/W5, on the CTV NEWS GO app, the CTV Mobile channel on Bell Mobile TV, and through video on demand partners, such as Bell Fibe TV (visit CTV.ca for local listings).
