TORONTO, Oct. 9, 2015 /CNW/ - Game 1 of the American League Division Series between the Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers set a network record for Sportsnet as the most-watched program in its history, as an average audience of 2.35 million viewers (2+), tuned into the broadcast. Sportsnet's previous all-time most-watched program was the Blue Jays / New York Yankees showdown at Rogers Centre on September 22, which delivered an average audience of 2.05 million.

Overall, 6.5million Canadians watched some part of the record-setting ALDS Game 1 on Sportsnet, as the Blue Jays fell to the Rangers, 5-3. Audience levels peaked at 3.75 million viewers at 6:29 p.m. ET in the bottom of the 9th inning, as Russell Martin was at bat with 2 out.

The 2.35 million average audience marks a 15% increase over the previous record (Blue Jays/Yankees on Sept. 22) and a 740% increase over last year's ALDS Game 1 featuring Detroit @ Baltimore (Game A) on October 2, 2014 (280,000 average audience).

This marks the 58th Blue Jays broadcast to eclipse the one million viewer mark, and the 3(rd) Blue Jays broadcast to eclipse the two million viewer mark in 2015. Yesterday's edition of Blue Jays CentralPostseason, the pre-game show hosted by Jamie Campbell and Gregg Zaun, delivered an average audience of 807,000 marking a 178% increase over the Blue Jays Central average audience during the 2015 regular season (290,000).
