"Careers in Film" Summit Aims to Spark Youth Entrepreneurship in Underserved Communities

SBA, Mike Muse Team up with Hollywood to Help Millennials Become Their Own Boss

LOS ANGELES - The U.S. Small Business Administration will take part in the Careers in Film Summit to further President Obama's My Brother's Keeper Initiative, and inspire the next generation of film entrepreneurs.

The summit, a collaboration between the SBA's MBK Millennial Entrepreneurs Champion Mike Muse, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Overbrook Entertainment, will feature six panels of Academy members, filmmakers and special guests who will discuss their professions and the paths they took to achieve successful careers. The moderators and panelists will help students identify key knowledge areas, skills and competencies that are essential for careers and entrepreneurship opportunities in the film industry.

The summit is free for high school and college students, who will be able to participate in Q&A sessions at the end of each panel. Students must register in advance and a valid student I.D. must be presented for admission.

WHAT: SBA's Associate Administrator for the Office of Entrepreneurial Development Tameka Montgomery and Chris Upperman, Senior Advisor will give remarks discussing President Obama's My Brother's Keeper Initiative and SBA's efforts to increase opportunities and pathways to entrepreneurship in the film industry for young Americans.
