5 Lakh Youth Come Together to Transform Society

Five lakh youth across India, equipped merely with cameras, have stirred the nation
with their attempt to bring about social transformation. YES! i am the CHANGE (YIAC), a
unique filmmaking challenge by YES FOUNDATION, has empowered every Indian to highlight
social issues and share solutions through short 3-minute films.

The participants of YIAC 101-Hour Social Filmmaking Challenge have made films on
critical social issues like child rights, women empowerment, elderly care, environmental
sustainability etc. The 101 hours of the challenge witnessed youth connecting with social
issues at the grassroots level and interacting with everyday heroes leading to positive
social action .
Top films of YIAC 2015 will win total prizes worth INR 45 lakhs and would be showcased
at national and international platforms. These short films form an open repository of
invaluable communication resources for not-for-profits to initiate dialogue and accelerate
social change. Additionally, all participants are eligible to apply for a grant to make a
short film on a social cause.
A high profile jury comprising of eminent individuals from the media, corporate,
education and development sectors will select the top films of YIAC 2015; Ms. Anu Aga
(Member of Parliament and Former Chairperson, Thermax), Mr. Shigeru Aoyagi (Director,
UNESCO), Mr. Vikas Bahl (Director, Queen), Ms. Bruni Burres (Sundance Institute, USA), Mr.
Paul Pauwels (Director, European Documentary Network, Denmark), Mr. Jaco Cilliers (Country
Director, UNDP-India), Mr. Prasoon Joshi (Advertising guru, poet & lyricist), Ms. Guneet
Monga (Producer, The Lunch Box and Gangs of Wasseypur), Mr. Pritish Nandy (veteran
journalist, poet and film producer), Mr. Bharat Patel (Member, Executive Committee, World
Federation of Advertisers, Brussels) amongst others.
With each passing day, many citizens are joining this significant social movement
across India's corporate, not-for-profit and academic organisations including IBM, Infosys,
Google, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Make A Wish Foundation, Rotary, Rotaract,
Magic Bus, MICA, IIMs and IITs amongst others.
