Sheehan & Streep: Together Again!
Sheehan & Streep: Together Again!
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- After 44 years on the Southern California airwaves at KCBS-TV and KNBC-TV, movie reviewer and interviewer David Sheehan has declared Meryl Streep to be Hollywood's leading leading lady.
"It's her incredible versatility that strikes me," Sheehan says, "and her willingness to try anything, like her current 'Ricki & The Flash' role, to deliver a humanizing characterization."
Sheehan's new weekly web series "Sheehan & The Stars" is devoting 3 episodes (what Sheehan calls 'Streepisodes') to Meryl Streep.
It will be the first 3-part feature in the show's brief history, which has so far included episodes with Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Al Pacino, and a special edition of never-seen-before chats with the late Robin Williams.
WHY THREE PARTS WITH MERYL
"Meryl is monumental," Sheehan explains. "As a role model and an achiever, Meryl Streep embodies distinctly different reflections of women today -- in performing, in the working world and in the awards arena, giving us three very distinct Streepisodes to present."
Meryl Streep reveals many personal insights into the 'Meryl Mystique' on "Sheehan & The Stars". "I can get very wrapped up in the details of life," Meryl laughs, "and the deadlines and the appointments, sometimes losing the big pictures for the trees."
MERYL TALKS OSCARS
Her "Sheehan & The Stars" Academy Awards comment expresses what it's like to be nominated a record 19 times but only win 3. Meryl grimaces slightly, and admits, "I have lost the Oscar more times than any human being in history," she smiles. "Everybody says 'Oh you've been nominated more than anybody.' Yeah but I've gone to the thing many times and lost, so there's kind of a cumulative nausea that builds up, and fear. I try to keep it equipoised with hope, but I'm not sure I'm able to do that."
The three Streepisodes on "Sheehan & The Stars" can be seen on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
THE OUT-OF-RETIREMENT BACKSTORY
There has been some fascination with the background of "Sheehan & The Stars", because the 'Digital Sheehan' idea virtually brought David Sheehan out of semi-retirement.
It all started when Sheehan's actress-comedian-filmmaker girlfriend Kellyann Chippendale took him to see "Testament of Youth", followed by "Manglehorn", two films he liked so much he began wishing he was back on the news at CBS (or NBC) so he could call attention to small worthwhile movies.
After posting brief 'check-this-out' rave reviews for the two pictures on his Facebook page, Chippendale suggested Sheehan go back to his video library and bring out what she thought was a very spiritual interview with the star of "Manglehorn", a longtime Sheehan friend named Al Pacino.
Chippendale, who now serves as the show's executive producer, thought it could be the beginning of a series called "Sheehan & the Spirituality of Stardom". Suddenly interested in his library again, Sheehan did post the Pacino interview, under the heading "The Other Side of Stardom".
That title was quickly replaced by what Sheehan's young producer/editor Derek Bloom said is a more online-friendly label: "Sheehan &The Stars". And before he knew it, David Sheehan had what people told him is a 'web series'.
So, the momentum had begun and now "Sheehan& The Stars" is a weekly social media event.
