Entravision Raises Record $2.9 Million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals
8th Annual three-day Radiothon raises record funds for children's hospitals
SANTA MONICA, Calif. and SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Entravision Communications Corporation (NYSE: EVC), a diversified media company serving Latino audiences and communities, and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals®, a charity that raises funds for 170 children's hospitals, today announced that approximately $2.9 million was raised for member hospitals during the eighth annual network-wide Radiothon. This year 95 communities nationwide will benefit from the Radiothon due to the participation of Entravision's talented on-air staff and the increased reach of its online and mobile platforms.
Entravision's leading Jose, Super Estrella, and La Tricolor network radio formats kicked off the event Thursday, August 13(th) with live broadcasts from Children's Hospital Orange County (CHOC) and the following day from the lobby of Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). The event concluded on Saturday, August 15(th) broadcasting from Children's Hospital Phoenix (CHP). The record-setting Radiothon total of $2,856,182 raised makes this the most successful Spanish-language Radiothon to benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in 2015 and surpassed last year's $2.1 million tally. The donations will be utilized by local children's hospitals to help fund critical treatments, healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care, as well as provide treatment to low-income patients.
"Now in our eighth year of collaborating with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, we are thrilled to have broadcast this phenomenal 72 hour Radiothon and very happy to know that its success will benefit more hospitals and children than ever before," said Jeffery Liberman, Chief Operating Officer of Entravision. "The overwhelming accomplishments achieved in this year's Radiothon reflect the vast reach of Entravision's national radio platform, our growing digital presence and our on-air talent and staff who rallied the great force of our Spanish-language listeners.
"We are once again extremely proud of the great partnership we enjoy with the entire Entravision team," stated Joe Trevino, VP Hispanic Programs, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. "This year's Radiothon success is a testament to the personal dedication, creativity and commitment by everyone involved to engage Entravision listeners to participate with the Radiothon. It was a comprehensive team effort by Entravision."
This year's Radiothon continued the theme of "Un Million Para Los Ninos" (One Million for the Children), which was far exceeded by Entravision's leading Spanish-language radio stations, including its Jose, Super Estrella, and La Tricolor formats. The multiday 2015 Radiothon included performances from Entravision's highly rated radio personalities, led by Oswaldo Diaz, who voices the lead personalities on the Erazno y La Chokolata show and was awarded Children's Miracle Network's Hispanic Radio Person of the Year in November of 2014. Diaz was joined by the talented Alex "El Genio" Lucas who rallied his listeners to support the Radiothon on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as well as the mid-day cast of Luz Maria Briseno and Mayra Berenice on its Jose stations. Tricolor network coverage included a live show from Phoenix Children's Hospital by its mid-day program Armida y La Flaka. On its Super Estrella stations coverage was highlighted on El Show de Piolin, along with personal visits to children and parents at both CHOC and CHLA hospitals by mid-morning host Carlos Alvarez. Additional participation included Entravision's new LMS show featuring Jorge "Naranjito" Velazquez, Hyacinth Gomez, and Paco Galvez.
The Radiothon program has been an integral part of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals' fundraising efforts since 1997. Today more than 300 stations participate in Radiothons annually, raising about $50 million each year for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
