UV One - The Evolution of TV
UV One - The Evolution of TV
Starts Crowdfunding Campaign Today on Kickstarter
CUPERTINO, Calif., Feb. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- UV Networks announces its Kickstarter campaign for UV One, an Android-powered media device for large screen TVs. UV One is positioned to overcome the limitations of set-top media boxes that have small app ecosystems and old-fashioned remote controls. UV One brings virtually any Android app to the TV, and users can control these apps using their smartphone or tablet.
UV One is a full-featured Android device based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 and built specifically to be connected to TVs with up to 4K resolution.
"UV One is a sophisticated piece of hardware, but the real magic is the user experience and the software," says Ed Krause, cofounder of UV Networks. "We spent over a year coding UV One and drew upon our many years of digital television and embedded systems experience. We have been spending a lot of time getting the experience right. We believe we have nailed it and that the UV One truly ushers in a new era of home entertainment."
Video and audio from the UV One is mirrored to the control device with ultra low latency. This allows highly responsive touch screen operation of apps and games on a large screen, and also enables access to the entire living room environment from remote locations throughout the home, bringing entertainment to any room.
UV Networks reinvents TV remote-control with UV One. The device is controlled with any Android or iOS device. Apps are driven by the same familiar phone or tablet interface, including multi-touch, microphone, cameras, and the full array of motion, position, and environmental sensors built into modern devices. It is also possible to control and interact with the UV One using multiple touch screen devices at the same time.
UV Networks aims to open the doors to the living room for other developers as well. UV One allows developers to tailor their mobile apps to the living room experience using the same set of tools that they use to develop for the mobile market, without the need to shoehorn the app into a limited "TV mode."
