Art X Detroit: Kresge Arts Experience Returns To Midtown In April
Signature Midtown Arts Event Expands to 10 Days over 3 Weeks and Adds Cultural Venues in Downtown and Eastern Market
DETROIT, Feb. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Art X Detroit: Kresge Arts Experience (AXD) will take over Midtown Detroit this spring as the free, 10-day arts experience celebrates Detroit's arts scene for three weekends, beginning April 9 and continuing through April 26 (April 9-12, 16-19, and 25-26). The third edition of AXD will feature an exciting collection of dance, literary, musical and theatrical performances, film screenings, visual arts installations, workshops, panel discussions and interactive experiences created by the 2013-2014 Kresge Eminent Artists and Artist Fellows. Their works will debut at nearly 20 cultural venues in the vibrant Midtown district--and new this year, venues in Downtown and Eastern Market. AXD is presented by The Kresge Foundation and produced by Midtown Detroit, Inc. (MDI).

The biennial AXD attracted thousands in 2013 as Detroit's flourishing arts scene continues to generate excitement nationally and internationally. A complete listing of AXD artists and programming will be announced in the coming weeks.

Attendees will experience new works and performances at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD), the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) and Detroit Film Theatre (DFT), the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Music Box, the College for Creative Studies and other venues in Midtown's Cultural Center. New venues for this year include the Detroit Opera House, the Garden Theater, Cass City Cinema, Salt & Cedar and Trinosophes, to name a few.
