The Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors Announces 2014 Caucus Honors Awards Nominees

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors has named the nominees for outstanding creative television and interactive media talent to be honored at the 32(nd) Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Skirball Cultural Center, announced Norman S. Powell, chair of The Caucus, and Chuck Fries, president of the Foundation and chair of the Awards Dinner.

Winners of the Caucus Honors for Producer, Writer and Director will be announced at the Awards Dinner. Producer nominees are Mara Brock Akil, Noah Hawley, Callie Khouri, Nic Pizzolatto, Michelle and Robert King, and Matthew Weiner. Writer nominees are Alan Ball, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, Jenji Kohan, Kevin Williamson, and Shonda Rhimes. Director nominees are Alan Carter, Alex Graves, Ryan Murphy, Tyler Perry, Rosemary Rodriguez, and Daniel Sackheim.

2014 Caucus award recipients are executive producer Vin Di Bona, Lifetime Achievement; producer Scott Carrey, Distinguished Service Award; producer-director Lee Miller, Chair's Award; Sony Pictures President Steve Mosko, Executive of the Year; and Variety Co-Editor-in-Chief Andrew Wallenstein, Journalism Award.

The Caucus Foundation's student Gold Circle Award will be presented to two 2013-14 grant recipients, selected from: Jessica Baclesse, Columbia University; Stefan Kubicki, AFI; Erin Li, AFI; Ryan Moody, UCLA; Ko-Rely Pi, Columbia University; Miguel Silveira, Columbia University; Meg Smaker, Stanford University; and Alcee H. Walker, School of Visual Arts. The Caucus Foundation will also bestow the Television and New Media Award to a university's creative team for an exceptional project.

A significant portion of the proceeds from the dinner benefits The Caucus Foundation, which has provided $1.3 million in grants and in-kind awards to 138 students completing their thesis film, television or interactive projects. "These awards are a representation of the 41 years that The Caucus has worked to elevate the quality and diversity of television and to protect the creative freedom of the television and new media creative community," said Fries. "The Caucus has been in the forefront of supporting aspiring filmmakers and education in the growth of digital, mobile and the vast expansion of technology through industry-wide panels and mentorship programs."
