GreenScreen Animals Footage Featured in "Gone Girl"
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- GreenScreen Animals (GSA) recently provided their high quality animal footage to 20th Century Fox's box office hit, "Gone Girl." The film, directed by David Fincher and starring Ben Aflleck, is an adaptation of the best-selling book by Gillian Flynn about a husband under scrutiny after his wife's disappearance.
GSA is the leader in providing animal footage to an industry of storytellers for use in film, television, internet, gaming & mobile. GSA provides filmmakers with customized animal assets; ensuring a high quality, cost effective, responsible and safe solution. The California-based company owns and licenses the largest green screen library of digital animal content globally.
One of GSA's most notable projects was supplying deer and raccoon footage for the opening montage of the film "Gone Girl." GSA provided turn-key service, overseeing all elements of the production from crew, casting, payroll and insurance - liaising with both the director, producer and animal trainers.
"The notion of cajoling real animals to perform during 1st unit production gave me nightmares of raccoons and deer running loose down Cahuenga Blvd. GSA was the perfect post-production solution," said Cean Chaffin, Producer of "Gone Girl."
"Working with animals is complicated. It can be very time-consuming, costly and sometimes controversial," said President and Co-Founder, Mark Shockley. "Historically, when a production required animal content, they were faced with two options: produce it themselves or build using CG. Both of these options have pitfalls. GSA provides a positive solution."
GSA's ability to customize animal content allows for excellent results with none of the risks. GSA handles all aspects of a production, working with clients and trainers, to ensure the best possible outcome.
On the "Gone Girl" project, the GSA team worked closely with director, David Fincher, following his technical and creative specifications. The one-day event took place at Hollywood Center Studios in Los Angeles, which Fincher personally supervised. "We were thrilled to work with David Fincher and Cean Chaffin on Gone Girl," said Shockley. "Fincher is a real master of his craft, focused on each and every detail."
