SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Rick Bartalini Presents announced that Bill Maher, comedian and host of Real Time on HBO, is to return to the Hawaiian Islands on December 31 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu and January 1 at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. This will mark Maher's fourth set of performances on the islands after his critically acclaimed performances in 2011, 2012 and 2013 which drew sold out crowds. And you never know who will show up at these shows as we saw last year with Actor Sean Penn and Director Michael Moore making an appearance to introduce Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder who wowed the crowd with a surprise acoustic set!*

Making good on his vow to return every year and become "the Don Ho of New Year's," Maher is eager to return to the islands. "I think everybody wants to be in Hawaii in December...This was my plan all year, get my ass booked there for New Year's" said Maher. And with political and social tensions at an all time high he has a wealth of potential monologue material.
For the last twenty years, Bill Maher has set the boundaries of where funny, political talk can go on American television. First on "Politically Incorrect" (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002), and for the last nine years on HBO's "Real Time," Maher's combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs have garnered him thirty-two Emmy nominations. In October of 2008, this same combination was on display in Maher's uproarious and unprecedented swipe at organized religion, "Religulous," directed by Larry Charles ("Borat"). The documentary has gone on to become the eighth highest grossing documentary ever.
In addition to his television program - which has featured such regular visitors as Howard Dean, Ben Affleck, Arianna Huffington, Cory Booker and Michael Moore - Maher has written five bestsellers: "True Story," "Does Anybody Have a Problem with That? Politically Incorrect's Greatest Hits," "When You Ride Alone, You Ride with Bin Laden," "New Rules: Polite Musings from a Timid Observer," and most recently, "The New New Rules: A Funny Look at How Everybody But Me Has Their Head Up Their Ass."
Maher was born in New York City, raised in River Vale, N.J. and went to Cornell University. He now resides in Los Angeles.
