The expansion is a result of the increasing adoption and growth of video advertising in Canada as viewing continues to migrate across screens. In its recently released third quarter research report, Videology found that its video ad impressions increased 51% year-on year in Canada, with the number of cross-screen video campaigns jumping from 27% in the first quarter to 44% in the third quarter. Cross-screen video campaigns include those running across some combination of computers, mobile devices and connected TVs.
The new appointments include Peter Bates, who has joined Videology as Senior Commercial Media Account Executive and will report into John Rogers, Senior Vice President, Media Partnerships, North America. Bates will be responsible for managing and onboarding publisher relationships in Canada and facilitating private marketplace and general video transactions for the agency holding companies and trading desks.
Bates was most recently with YuMe, where he served as Business Development Manager, helping drive sales and product strategy through analysis and training. Prior to YuMe, Bates was Partnership Development Manager, Brand Solutions, for Adconion Media Group, where he developed new video initiatives.
Greg Hopper has joined Videology in the newly created position of Technical Sales Specialist, reporting into Ryan Ladisa, Vice President, Sales, Canada. Hopper will be responsible for ongoing training and implementation for Videology's largest and most strategic demand-side clients.
Prior to Videology, Hopper was Media Executive at MediaCom Canada, where he focused on planning and executing digital and traditional media campaigns for multiple brands. Hopper also was Publishing Coordinator for Casablanca Media Publishing.
In addition, Sam Gottfried has been elevated to the position of Account Executive, and will report into Ladisa. He will be responsible for account management, training and scaling the video business within the agency trading desk and digital media businesses.
Gottfried was previously Sales Strategy Manager for Videology, maintaining and evolving the sales process through industry education, training and account maintenance. Prior to Videology, Gottfried served as National Sales Planner at Rogers Digital Media, responsible for inside sales for three major agencies and revenue growth planning. Gottfried also served as Assistant Media Executive for MediaCom.
