The NFHS Network Launches Inaugural Student Broadcast Academy

Immersive and Innovative Experience to Draw Student Broadcasters to Atlanta in July 2015

ATLANTA, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The NFHS Network, the nation's leading high school sports media company, announced that the inaugural NFHS Network Broadcasting Academy will be held July 17-19, 2015 in Atlanta. The Academy is designed for student broadcasters to hear from successful sports broadcasters from major networks, develop skills through hands-on broadcast training sessions and be recognized for their accomplishments during the first annual NFHS Network Broadcast Academy Awards Ceremony.

The NFHS Network is the single online destination for watching high school sports and other events live and on demand from anywhere at anytime. Students participating in the NFHS Network School Broadcast Program, which provides high schools with the technology platform, training and support to broadcast their own regular season games online, now produce the majority of the events on the NFHS Network.

"We have been so impressed by the quality of the broadcasts these students are producing using our platform," said Robert Rothberg, NFHS Network President. "We are thrilled to provide an opportunity for these student broadcasters to gather together for some experiential training and exposure to some of the leaders in the media industry as well as to recognize them for their incredible achievements."

Academy attendees will go to an Atlanta Braves game, hear from media executives discussing various aspects of the broadcasting business, experience hands-on workshops conducted by NFHS Network producers and celebrate the accomplishments of their peers during the awards ceremony on Saturday evening. In addition, students will be able to share best practices and experiences with other student broadcasters from other schools across the country.

School broadcast teams and students will be recognized in the following categories:

-- Best Overall School Broadcast Program
-- Best New School Broadcast Program
-- Best Live Sports Broadcast
-- Best Original Program/Feature
-- Best Student Broadcaster
-- Highlight of the Year
-- School Broadcast Program Teacher of the Year
Details about the awards nomination process will be available in December and registration for the Academy will begin in early January.
