PBS Puts Miami Book Fair International at the Fingertips of Book Lovers Everywhere

DETROIT, Nov. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- More than 250 renowned authors and hundreds of thousands of people will attend the acclaimed Miami Book Fair International. Now, for the first time ever PBS audiences across the country will have the opportunity to enjoy the fair created by the Center for Writing and Literature @ Miami Dade College (MDC). Coverage will be produced by Detroit Public Television (DPTV) and distributed via multiple platforms including Bookviewnow.org, PBS.org, PBS station websites and the WORLD Channel. The coverage is made possible thanks to the support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

The three-day coverage--from Friday, November 21 through Sunday, November 23 will include a daily live stream presentation of selected interviews, panels, and on-the-street fair segments accessible via PBS.org, select PBS station websites and WORLDChannel.org. In addition, select segments will be archived and available for on-demand viewing across PBS.org, PBS station websites and all PBS video apps.

The live stream webcast will air Friday, November 21 4-9 pm ET; Saturday 12 noon-6 pm ET; and Sunday 12 noon-6 pm ET. In addition to PBS online platforms, the live stream will be available via a free online video player to any individual or entities wishing to share the event with their audiences. Daily 30-minute highlights programs will premiere on public media's WORLD Channel each evening from Saturday, November 22 to Monday, November 24 at 6:30 pm ET. The highlight programs will also be made available to PBS stations nationwide.

PBS' coverage of the Miami Book Fair International will be anchored by Jeffrey Brown, Chief Correspondent for Arts, Culture and Society for PBS NewsHour and co-hosted with Kelly Corrigan, New York Times bestselling author of Glitter and Glue and host of Medium's Foreword with additional live on-the-street segments by WPBT Miami host Kalyn Chapman James.

The coverage will feature interviews and special segments with distinguished authors such as Richard Ford, Norman Lear, Judy Blume, Walter Isaacson, actor Jason Segel, director John Waters, Ann Patchett, Emma Straub, Questlove, poet Mark Strand and many more.
