8th Annual United Way HomeWalk Features Indie Rock Band Terraplane Sun, Over 10,000 Participants
WHAT: As part of United Way's plan to end poverty in L.A. County, the
organization will host its 8th Annual HomeWalk, a 5K run/walk and
outdoor concert to raise public awareness and fund solutions to
end homelessness, one of the most extreme forms of poverty. Over
the past seven years, 50,000 people have participated, raising
over $4 million and helping move 14,500 people off the streets and
into housing. Every dollar donated or fundraised will be doubled
thanks to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. This year's goal is to
raise $1.35 million with this match. Over 10,000 participants are
expected, and registration is free for all walkers. Julian Castro,
United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and Los
Angeles indie rock band Terraplane Sun, the critically acclaimed
act that recently completed its world tour with Imagine Dragons,
will be headlining the event alongside Bryant.
