Tim Rice's Famed West End Production 'From Here to Eternity' Gets An Encore
SpectiCast to Present a Special Anniversary Screening of the Adaptation of James Jones' Classic Novel in Select Cinemas on December 7th
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On the heels of its successful release in cinemas earlier this month, SpectiCast Entertainment has partnered with Omniverse Vision to present Tim Rice's prolific version of "From Here to Eternity." In remembrance of the Pearl Harbor attacks, special screenings will take place on Sunday, December 7(th) in theaters across the U.S with encore screenings in select theaters through the remainder of December and beyond. The acclaimed production will be making its Broadway debut in 2015, but theater aficionados won't want to miss their chance to catch this magnificent musical in a larger-than-life, big screen experience first. This special showing of "From Here to Eternity" will also feature approximately 20 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage giving an inside look to the production of the musical.
Tickets for "From Here to Eternity" are available at participating theater box offices. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit http://www.cinestage.co.uk/eternity.html(theaters and participants are subject to change).
Set in the South Pacific, "From Here to Eternity" is a gripping tale about illicit love and army life set in 1941 Hawaii just before the attacks on Pearl Harbor and adapted from James Jones' 1951 WW2 classic novel. Having recently transferred to the base, troubled Private Prewitt (Robert Lonsdale) falls for Lorene (Siobhan Harrison), the kind-hearted escort club girl, while simultaneously his platoon sergeant, Warden (Darius Campbell), embarks on a dangerous affair with his commanding officer's wife, Karen (Rebecca Thornhill), setting the lives of both men on a course they cannot control. As war approaches, the worlds of the four lovers and the soldiers of G Company are dramatically ripped apart.
Captured over two nights and directed for the screen by Nick Morris ("Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert" and "Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary Concert"), the production was adapted for the stage by Tim Rice (lyrics), Stuart Brayson (music) and Bill Oakes (book). Rice has worked in music, theatre and films since 1965 with productions including "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Evita." He later won two Oscars working with Disney on "The Lion King" and "Aladdin."
"SpectiCast is delighted to once again be working with Omniverse on yet another classic production that will delight audiences once again," said Mark Rupp, SpectiCast co-Founder and President.
