THX to Celebrate Partnership with China Film Group throughout MPAA 4th Annual China International Co-Production Event Week
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Oct. 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- THX Ltd. has launched a groundbreaking partnership with China Film Group as a first milestone to its expansion into China; officially introducing THX® Certified Cinemas to Chinese moviegoers while enhancing China's vie to meet international film industry standards. The first THX® Certified China Giant Screen (CGS) auditorium is scheduled to open in November 2014 in Shanghai. THX® Certified Cinemas - the pinnacle of Hollywood entertainment experiences - mark the next level of entertainment experiences for China and guarantee continued success in its fast-growing market.
Following the August 2014 opening of THX's first China office in Beijing, this innovative collaboration is the latest achievement in the company's strong pace of global expansion. Over the past decade, China has exploded into one of the largest and most influential film markets around the world, second only to North America. From 2003 to 2013, their box office grew from USD $120 million to over USD $2.7 billion and has been steadily on the rise ever since. China experienced 27.5% growth in box office from 2012 to 2013 and now stands as the first to surpass $3 billion. "China is the second largest movie market after the US," explains Louis Cacciuttolo, THX Executive Vice-President of International Business Development and Brand Strategy. "With China's film industry growing at such a rapid rate, it is our responsibility and commitment to deliver the highest quality and most immersive cinematic experience to Chinese audiences and audiences across the globe - just as the artists intended."
THX continues to work with Chinese filmmakers, industry leaders, and Hollywood to redefine the movie going experience at the Fourth Annual China International Co-Production Film Screenings in Los Angeles on November 3 - 7, 2014. Hosted by Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the conference seeks to foster a greater exchange of creative ideas and strengthen the bond between Chinese and American film industries. THX and MPAA will co-host the Closing Ceremony, which includes a private screening of Director Christopher Nolan's Interstellar at AMC Century City.
THX has long been recognized as a company that sets the industry benchmark for delivering the finest quality cinematic experience true to the original filmmaker's intent.
