Today, Joan Dangerfield, Rodney's widow, launches the "Rodney Dangerfield Baby Look-Alike Photo Contest" on Rodney's Facebook page.
In preparing a career highlight reel to run alongside Rodney's GRAMMY Museum exhibit, Joan came across a Saturday Night Live appearance he hosted in 1980. "It includes a sketch where Rodney donates to a sperm bank and becomes its most in-demand donor," Joan said. "All the customers want their children fathered by him and he has a hilarious time trying to keep the bank fully stocked."
"It got me thinking," Joan continued. "So I looked online and noticed lots of parents posting pictures of their kids making Rodney faces. They were adorable! One of the babies was only minutes old and displayed an uncanny resemblance. So I decided to have an official contest."
The winning parents will receive two domestic round-trip flights to Los Angeles and two tickets to the prestigious opening night celebration for "The Comedic Genius of Rodney Dangerfield" exhibit hosted by Michael Bolton on November 2, 2014. This kick-off will feature a lively celebrity panel, and touching tributes, celebrating Dangerfield's extraordinary life (full event details: http://www.grammymuseum.org/events/detail/celebrating-rodney-dangerfield).
U.S. residents wishing to enter may post a Rodney look-alike baby photo to his official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/RodneyDangerfield) between now and October 17, 2014, 11:59 PM ET. The winner will be selected based on the following five criteria: (1) appearance, (2) charisma, (3) expression, (4) image concept and (5) that "special something" that most resembles Rodney.
