The PICKnic is a new kind of philanthropic experience bringing awareness to local and global charities through art, music, rhythm and social change. This event features local musicians who have chosen nonprofit organizations to represent with their performances. With these nonprofit organizations on-site at the event, attendees will have the chance to gain more resources and information on a personal level.
This is no ordinary family picnic with kids screaming and bugs swarming your food. This is a night of acoustic vibes and candlelight.
Enjoy an opening acoustic performance by Jess Johnson, singer-songwriter and Founder and Visionary of Jeans 4 Justice, as live artists provided by Bettinatime and the BUY ART Campaign paint canvases around the stage while acoustic sounds fill the room. Dave Booda, a teacher, writer and musician known for his self-created religion Boodaism, returns to San Diego for this musical showcase.
Award-winning San Diego songwriters, The Lovebirds, will conclude the event with their performance and short documentary Breakup Shmakeup, providing a glimpse into their journey involving mental illness, breakups, divorce, hospitalization and coming out.
Throughout the evening, attendees are encouraged to learn about services and resources offered and are encouraged to donate to the nonprofit organizations: Shakti Rising, Jeans 4 Justice, and NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) San Diego benefitting from the event.
The PICKnic is on Sept. 25 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 98 Bottles 2400 Kettner Blvd. Tickets are $10. Follow @MARS4GOOD on Twitter and Instagram and "Like" the MARS Experience Facebook Page at Facebook.com/MARSFestival for more information.
